Anymal by-products not intended for human consumption - ABPS

Animal by-products not intended for human consumption (ABPs) are defined as the whole bodies or parts of animals, products of animal origin or other products obtained from animals that are not intended for human consumption, either for health reasons or due to a decision by the operator.
ABPs are materials generated in the primary livestock farming production, in industries transforming foods of animal origin, in food retail establishments and in homes which, for commercial or health reasons, do not enter the human food chain.
The management of animal by-products from the time they are generated until their final use, recovery or destruction is regulated to ensure that it does not generate risks for human or animal health or the environment, and particularly to ensure the safety of the human and animal food chain.
